Wes Vandenberg was superb as he scored 68 in an otherwise bland Windsor CC batting display on the weekend

WINDSOR 158
Vandenberg 68

defeated by

MAIDENHEAD & BRAY 4/160

Windsor suffered their first loss of the season with a comprehensive peformance by Maidenhead & Bray on the weekend.

Upon winning the toss only Nichols decided to bat on a greenish wicket where only Vandenberg (68) could get a score. Vandermerwe (10), Nichols (14), Malloch (19) and Kemp (11) where all guilty of giving away starts, something that really came back to haunt the side. Poor shot selection was the main bugbear, as the top order made mistakes that previously in Division 2, would not cost them a wicket.

Maids chansed the target with gusto, as they tore apart some lacklustre bowling to streak to 50 after 6 overs, but Vandermerwe (2/23) and Hartridge (1/20) managed to claw back a small bit of repectability. It was all in vain as the low score and great start Maids made meant the total was reached in the 31st over…

It was a good hit out for the team and the guys learnt alot from the experience of playing a fellow Division 1 side, that should help them going forward into the season.

The standards that where previously accepted as par are now realised now as not enough, as Windsor need to move forward and develop their game further, to be able to compete at this level…
