TWO SHY SHY !
With 2 successive victories a buoyant Windsor team entertained bottom of the table Fleet.
Fleet elected to bat on a reasonable batting deck.
Windsor’s bowling attack started with inform Tommy Hartridge bowling with good pace and control being ably supported by Adam Allen Turner battling a strong breeze bowling to a plan and achieving rewarding figures of an unchanged spell of 15 overs 3-45.
At 65-4 of 30 overs Windsor attacked with Spin with Mark Lines 2-39 and Raul Mohindru 1-14.
Both bowlers bowled accurately not allowing Fleet any opportunity to accelerate. At the tail end of the innings Chris Kellard quickly made light work of the tail in pursuit of quick runs to finish with 3-12.
Fleet were bowled out for 149 of 50 overs.
A very professional bowling display by Windsor was then followed up by a totally inept performance from their batsmen who showed very poor judgement and application to the match situation.
Disaster struck as the Windsor innings applied the self destruct button, starting with whirlwind Kris Baumgartner falling for 13 playing a loose shot., being quickly followed quickly by James Mace bowled for 0 . Vishal Nair shouldered arms to a straight ball being bowled for 6, and promising youngster Kevin Dass fell for 15 getting caught on a back foot LBW.
At 40-4 , consolidation then took place from Windsor’s most experienced batsmen Adam Weston and Austen Ambrose. Both batsmen played cautiously against an honest Fleet bowling attack that gave very little away.
The Windsor duo accumulated runs through occupation of the crease , Weston looking to score of anything with width, and Ambrose to the half volley. Both batsmen got the run chase to a manageable equation of 4 an over.
Opener Adam Weston marathon innings (55) came to a close in the 46th over , leaving partner Ambrose to hopefully finish the job – with 6 required of the last over Windsor fell 2 short from victory as Ambrose got bowled on 47.
Innings closed at 148-6 of 51 overs.
Both sides finishing with 7 points each.
Windsor’s title ambitions took a major dent that day and all looked lost for the season until other results filtered through. Results were in Windsor’s favour as the top 3 all lost meaning with 4 games to play Windsor still have everything to play for.
